The Physiological and Economic Impact of Neighborhood Green Space on the Stress, Cognitive and Behavioral development, and mental Well-being of Children

Did you know that spending time in nature can lower stress levels and improve mental health?
High exposure to green spaces during childhood is associated with better mental health and cognitive performance later in life. This supports the need for better integration of green spaces in primary schools. However, more research is necessary to provide policymakers with evidence for feasible and achievable interventions, such as greening schoolyards, to integrate natural environments into urban planning to improve mental health. Therefore, I want to investigate the effects of greening schoolyards on stress, well-being, and cognition among primary schoolchildren. Furthermore, I want to investigate the influence of green spaces from early life onwards on child development using data from the ENVIRONAGE birth cohort.
